MILAN B. WILLIAMS, March 28-1948, July 9-2006 Posted By:Commodores on Jul 10 2006 10:53am
It is with a heavy heart that we come to all our friends and fans this day. Our dear friend, brother and Commodore Milan B. Williams went on to glory Sunday afternoon 9th July 2006. As many of you already knew, Milan was beating back cancer with both fists right up to yesterday when God stepped into the ring and said "Okay my son, you rest now, you fought a good fight, I'll take it from here". We were speaking with Milan recently when all the Commodores got on a conference call with him which was set up as a surprise by his wife Melanie, he sounded really up and although we could hear the weakness in his voice, the content of his conversation was very strong.
Milan said many things on that call and for the most part the rest of us just listened. One of the most profound things he said to us was, "Gentlemen, whatever grudges you may have between yourselves or anyone else in the world, let them go, shake hands and move on with the precious life God has given you, life is too short." Let's all try to honor Milan's memory by saying in our hearts, and out loud, "Yes, we hear you Milan!!!!!!" The Commodores wish to say "our sincerest condolences" to his wife Melanie, his children Jason and Ricci, and to all the other members of his family. Brother Milan, from all your Commodores fans and friends around the world, you were loved, you are loved, you will be missed, we salute you, and together in one huge chorus we all say, "SAIL ON BROTHER MILAN!!!!!!! SAIL ON"!!!!!!!!!!..........
PS, Milan's family have requested that in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to the hospital that treated Milan. The link is mdanderson.org/gifts, phone # 800-525-5841 and just say "Can I make a donation." The address is MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486.
Thank you
